Domestic Violence Behind Terrible Shooting

It appears that the terrible shooting in a local beauty salon which killed eight and left nine others wounded may have stemmed from a drawn-out child custody battle. The man who allegedly killed multiple strangers in the salon where his wife was had reportedly argued with his wife that morning regarding the custody of their eight-year-old son.

Experts who have observed the case warn that domestic disputes, while rarely ending in such violence, can often become quite ugly, particularly if one parent has a history of violence, depression, or extreme stress. If your former spouse has any of these factors in his or her history, it's a good idea to speak with a police officer, a social worker, or a family law attorney to help ensure the safety of yourself and your children.

Situations like the massacre at the salon are of course very rare but domestic violence is not, and stressful situations like child custody battles can bring out violence in people who would not otherwise resort to such means.
